4 Things to do to leave your house clean before going on vacation

Going on vacations to enjoy the summer? Perhaps you have a list of all the things you have to take, but it is also important to prepare your home if you’ll be out of town for weeks. As coming home from a great holiday to a dirty and messy place can be a bummer. Here are four things to do before leaving to find your house clean when you get back.
1. Tidy up
To avoid having to come home to clean your house after a nice, relaxing vacation it is best to clean important areas before you leave. Since there will be no one at home, leaving it clean will prevent things from going awry or bugs from keeping in and making a party out of your dirt. Therefore, make sure to tidy up areas like the bathroom, kitchen, and bedrooms.
2. Clean out the refrigerator and take out the trash
The kitchen can be one of the most important areas to clean while before going on vacation. Food residues and crumbs can attract pests and this will not only be gross to see when you arrive but also cause big issues you most likely want to avoid. Make sure to toss any food that will spoil or cause a bad smell. Don’t forget to take the trash out as well!
3. Make your bed
The first place you’ll want to land when you arrive from vacation is your dear bed. Therefore you want to make sure it is left with clean sheets and properly made. Put away any items like clothing, that may accumulate and to add an extra touch you can place a vase with some water and eucalyptus, as this will make the room smell good.
4. Check all the windows, doors, appliances, laundry, etc.
Before leaving make sure to check all the possible entry points around your home for security reasons. This is not only to avoid burglars but animals or water from rain entering your home. Also, check the last load of laundry, as leaving clothes in the washer for a long time can cause them to smell mildewy. Unplug all appliances (routers, televisions, computers, or unused chargers) to keep them safe in the case of electricity problems, this will also help save on your energy bill and lower the risk of an electrical fire
Following these tips will ensure you come home to a well-maintained and clean home. If cleaning before your vacation sounds like a tedious task, you can always schedule an appointment with us! We’ll make sure to leave your home sparklingly clean for your arrival.
