Chandelier Cleaning Services

A chandelier can be a beautiful statement piece in a private dining room or in an office setting. Chandeliers offer many styles that can attract the eye as well as light a room. Often, they sit in a central point in a room and may be the only accessory or accent besides paint, wallpaper and carpet. Chandeliers also offer classic style. However, in order to impress your guests, a chandelier must always be clean. No one is impressed by a dusty chandelier.

Cleaning a Chandelier

Maintaining your chandelier is important, and that includes regular cleaning. Depending on the materials that make up your lamp, cleaning must be done using the proper cleaning agents. For glass or crystal chandeliers, reflecting and refracting light is their primary feature. Many of these lights can be easily disassembled for easier cleaning. If you need to take the chandelier apart, snap a photo of the lamp before you disassemble it. The photo will help you when you have to reassemble it, so you remember what it looks like. Unless otherwise stated, crystal and glass chandeliers can be cleaned with glass cleaner in order to sparkle properly. You may find that pieces need to be washed with soap and water to clean properly. If so, use a mild soap such as Murphy’s Oil Soap. Follow the directions on the product label.

If your chandelier is made from wood or metal, you may not be able to get it wet. If that is the case, use a cleaner that is designed for those materials to keep them dry. Many cleaners come in a spray format to make odd surfaces easier to clean. For dusting, use a clean, damp cloth or a feather duster to get in small tight areas. Wood surfaces may need to polished or oiled to improve their sheen.
