Cleaning tips to consider before your 4th of July celebration

Hosting a barbecue or party this Independence Day? There’s nothing better than gathering your friends and family together to celebrate such a special day. However, having your home as the place where everyone will be at requires some slight planning. Before you begin to decorate and open the doors to guests make sure your house is clean and ready to go. Follow these few tips to relax and enjoy the festivities.

1. Clean up your guest bathroom

One of the most used areas at a home gathering is the bathroom. Therefore it’s important to make sure it is looking and smelling clean. Perhaps a deep clean is best left for after the party, nonetheless for matters of good impression it is best to clean areas like the sink, mirror, and toilet. If you have towels or rugs make sure they are clean as well. And while you’re at it, why not light a candle to add a fresh scent?

2. Arrange the kitchen

This is another area that will have guests coming in and out. Make sure to wash the dirty dishes and put them away. Take out the trash and have a new one ready to avoid the accumulation of dirty cups and glasses. Before placing any food or plates, clean the counters, and if they are delicate place a tablecloth on top to avoid damage.

3. Clean up the terrace or patio

If you have outdoor spaces like a patio, porch, or terrace you most likely will want guests to sit there to enjoy the view of the patriotic fireworks. But before cleaning the area, make sure to use a separate broom for outdoor spaces to avoid bringing dirt inside. Clean any chairs and tables too and remove any clutter that can take up seating space.

4. Scrub down the grill

In the case of having a barbecue, it is crucial to clean the grill before using it. You can soak the grates and metal plates in warm water and dish soap for a few minutes to remove any buildup. Also, scrub the inside of the grill to remove any grime and ash. In a few minutes, you should have a grill ready to heat up!

5. Prepare for post-cleanup

To optimize time and avoid having to pick up trash after the celebration, it’s best to just place a garbage can outside for simple cleanup.

As a host, you’ll probably have to prepare lots of things and perhaps don’t have enough time to do all the cleaning. The best thing to do is hire a cleaning company to help with the cleaning before or after the celebration to save time and relax knowing someone else will take care of the heavy duty.
