Whoops! Our busy lifestyles can get a little dirty from time to time and that includes our beautiful carpet. There’s no need to cry over spilled red wine, black coffee, or even a pet’s boo boo. These tried and true DIY tips will instantly remove stains and refresh your beautiful carpets.

Do This To Remove Most Stains

Fill one empty spray bottle with cold water. Fill another empty spray bottle with dishwashing liquid and one cup of warm water. Spray the dishwashing liquid combo onto a clean cloth (not directly on the carpet). Blot, don’t rub the cloth onto the stain until it disappears. Then spray water onto the area to remove soap. Lastly, cover the wet area with dry paper towels to absorb the liquid. Allow to dry completely and vacuum.

Do This To Remove Red Wine And Coffee

Act right away! First, take a dry clean cloth and soak up as much of the spill as you can. Blot, don’t rub! Combine one tablespoon of white vinegar (it must be white)  one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid and two cups warm water. Spray the mixture onto a clean white cloth saturate the stain and after a few minutes have passed, blot the area with the cloth until the stain disappears. Then spray water onto the area to remove soap. Lastly, cover the wet area with dry paper towels to absorb the liquid. Allow to dry completely and vacuum.

Do This To Remove Pet’s Boo-Boos

Pet stains should be removed as soon as they occur. Use a carpet cleaner made exclusively for pet stains and odors. These products contain enzymes that remove bacteria and odors. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to properly use the product. If you don’t have a pet stain remover product, use the same procedure we shared for wine and coffee, but after the stain disappears, apply a paste of water and baking soda. Cover the stain and allow it to completely dry. This may take a few hours or overnight. Lastly, vacuum the dried powder to reveal a stain-free, fresh carpet.
